    God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen

This past Christmas, several of the men staying at our shelter formed a small men’s chorus and “made a joyful noise” singing carols at various nursing homes, churches, and venues within the community. The men’s enthusiasm and big smiles reflected the joy of Jesus in their hearts and the positive changes He has made in their lives. We’re not sure if they are planning to go “on tour” in the future, but we are hopeful the CAC Men’s Christmas Chorus will become a yearly event!

    Finding God in Unexpected Places

When you have eaten and are satisfied, you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which he has given you. Beware lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping His statutes which I am commanding you this day; lest, when you have eaten and are satisfied, and have built good houses and lived in them…then your heart becomes proud, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of slavery. Deuteronomy 8:10-14 (NAS)

A jail cell, a cement bunk, a blanket and a Bible. Not exactly the place where you would expect a miracle, but God has a way of redeeming even the most difficult circumstances by His grace. During one of the darkest time in his life, John found God - a Divine encounter that eventually changed the course of his life.

2011 Annual Community Drive

Winter is just around the corner, and the annual "Coats for Kids" community drive is underway!

Coats For Kids 2011 Little Boy

The little boy’s eyes sparkled as his mother held up a new bright red coat! Grinning from ear to ear, he could hardly contain himself as he paraded around showing his new, warm coat to anyone and everyone. At the end of the day, he was reluctant to take it off and had to be coaxed when bedtime arrived to change into his pajamas. He reluctantly agreed, once his mother promised that the coat would be waiting for him when he woke up in the morning. This is just one little story about the joy a simple gift can bring to a child in need of a warm winter coat. Many other stories could be told thanks to the caring people who either provided a new coat or donated to Coats for Kids over the past several years.

At the Christian Aid Center we work with local elementary, middle and high school counselors who provide a list of those kids needing a warm coat for those cold Walla Walla winter days. Last year we provided 463 new coats thanks to the generosity of kind-hearted, compassionate people who care about kids in need.

Please consider supporting the Coats for Kids program, please designate your donation to Coats for Kids-Christian Aid Center and mail it to PO Box 56, Walla Walla, Washington 99362 or drop of a new coat at 202 West Birch and put a smile on a kid’s grateful face!

Donations exceeding need for coats will be used to help shelter and feed the homeless in our community.
